Itinerary:
Day 1 : Cusco – Hydro Electric Dam – Machu Picchu
Our journey begins at 8:00 am, where we will go to Ollantaytambo to have breakfast. We continue our journey to Abra Malaga (4316 m) where we can enjoy the beautiful landscape, and continue our trip by a paved track through Santa Maria (1575 m). We continue until we come to Santa Teresa at around 2:00 pm, where we stop for lunch. Then continue to the hydroelectric dam and take the train to Aguas Calientes, arriving at 5:30 pm. Once installed in the hotel in Aguas Calientes, we will have the rest of the night for free time, an option being to visit the thermal baths.
Day 2: Machu Picchu – Cusco
To get to Machu Picchu we have two options – to go by bus or on foot. The tour will start in Machu Picchu will begin at 6:00 am and will last approximately 2 hours. Then we will have free time until 11:30 a.m. to enjoy the complex, take pictures and explore. The recommended time to board the train back to the dam is 12:30, where we will get transport back to Santa Teresa. Here one can buy food or use the restroom and then we continue back to Ollantaytambo. Lastly, we return to Cusco by about 9:30pm.
